SUPER GREEN SMOOTHIE IN A BOWL

For those of you who know me, you know I love my smoothie in the morning.  It really gets me going.  One of my favorite smoothies is my Green smoothie with Spinach and Almond Butter.  But, this time I took it up a notch and made it into a bowl, a meal for some.  I added in some of my favorite fixings like pomegranate seeds, blueberries, hemp seeds and almond slivers, and ate it with a spoon.  So delicious and nutritious!  Hope you do the same and enjoy your favorite smoothie in a bowl soon.

SUPER GREEN SMOOTHIE IN A BOWL

1 cup almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup frozen mango
1 table spoon almond butter or peanut butter
1 table spoon maca powder*
2 cups spinach

Blend all the ingredients together, pour into a bowl and top with your favorite toppings.

Toppings as shown:  Hemp seeds, pomegranate seeds, blueberries, and almond slivers.

Click on the links for maca powder and hemp seeds and check out the nutritional benefits of both.  Hemp seeds are my new favorite topping.  They are super delicious on salads, smoothies and soups.

Enjoy!

VANILLA + PEAR SMOOTHIE

Vanilla Pear Smoothie
Written by contibutor Britney Manuel of Btanjerine and A Simply Raw Life.

I am currently in love with this smooth, subtle smoothie.  It's one of those things you sip and savor.  A definite keeper for a great go-to meal on the go.

And the perks are, that this buttery fruit can deliver up to 6 grams of fiber, including pectin, which lowers bad cholesterol.  Can I get a woot?  And the juicy flesh contains vitamin C and copper, essential for the formation of red blood cells.  All the more reason to take advantage of this delicate fruit.

VANILLA + PEAR SMOOTHIE

THE ESSENTIALS

1 frozen banana
2 pears peeled
1 c. coconut milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 inch. vanilla bean

THE PROCESS

Scrape the inside of the vanilla bean and blend it with the coconut milk for 20 seconds.  Then add all other ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Serves 1.  Makes approximately 2 cups.

Love the flecks of vanilla bean!

I don't know about you but it's sure been hot here in Los Angeles for the past 3 weeks!  August is usually the hotest month here and I don't know what I would do without my air conditioner and smoothies.

All I have been wanting to drink on these hot days are smoothies.  And this one is sure refreshing!
If you aren't feeling like a green smoothie give this one a try!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Fresh pressed Apple Juice
1 frozen Banana
1 cup Frozen Strawberries
and 1 cup Fresh Watermelon

Blend in a high speed blender and drink!

So delicous and sweet.
Pure joy!
