VANILLA + PEAR SMOOTHIE

Vanilla Pear Smoothie
Written by contibutor Britney Manuel of Btanjerine and A Simply Raw Life.

I am currently in love with this smooth, subtle smoothie.  It's one of those things you sip and savor.  A definite keeper for a great go-to meal on the go.

And the perks are, that this buttery fruit can deliver up to 6 grams of fiber, including pectin, which lowers bad cholesterol.  Can I get a woot?  And the juicy flesh contains vitamin C and copper, essential for the formation of red blood cells.  All the more reason to take advantage of this delicate fruit.

VANILLA + PEAR SMOOTHIE

THE ESSENTIALS

1 frozen banana
2 pears peeled
1 c. coconut milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 inch. vanilla bean

THE PROCESS

Scrape the inside of the vanilla bean and blend it with the coconut milk for 20 seconds.  Then add all other ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Serves 1.  Makes approximately 2 cups.

Love the flecks of vanilla bean!

PEACHES & CREAM SHAKE

Raw Peach Shake

In the spirit of summer and all things peaches, I’ve been getting my fill of the fuzzy fruit.   It started with a raw peach cobbler that I found here.  I have been buying peaches by the flat so I’ve been putting them in everything, and this peach shake is no exception.   I have always enjoyed milk shakes, but I always feel so guilty afterwards.  Now this is a great shake with no guilt! It’s so yum it feels wrong!

Here are the Deets!

PEACHES AND CREAM SHAKE

3 ripe peaches (peeled)
1 frozen banana (I like to use a smaller banana or 1/2 of a larger one, so that the banana tastes doesn't overpower the peaches)
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of cashew milk (or another nut milk)

**Note: This would also be great with nectarines.

Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender until creamy.

Enjoy!

Makes 1 generous serving approximately 2 cups.

SMOOTHIE: REFRESHING STRAWBERRY AND WATERMELON

I don't know about you but it's sure been hot here in Los Angeles for the past 3 weeks!  August is usually the hotest month here and I don't know what I would do without my air conditioner and smoothies.

All I have been wanting to drink on these hot days are smoothies.  And this one is sure refreshing!
If you aren't feeling like a green smoothie give this one a try!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Fresh pressed Apple Juice
1 frozen Banana
1 cup Frozen Strawberries
and 1 cup Fresh Watermelon

Blend in a high speed blender and drink!

So delicous and sweet.
Pure joy!
